Persian Walnut Catalog
The Persian walnut, named for the place of origin, is known by several names, including Carpathian, English and California walnut. The Polish Carpathian Mountain strain is hardier than most other European strains and has been successful from Lake Erie to Georgian Bay in Ontario. Thus Carpathian walnut has come to include all hardy Persians to distinguish them from the tender California types. We continue to evaluate selections for hardiness, productiveness, and walnut blight disease resistance. The trees listed below are our best for these qualitites. Suitable for zones 5 to 8, protect in 5. Grafts are suited to zone 6b-8. Winter protect graft area in zone 6a for 2-3 years.
